Micropigmentation | Permanent Makeup for Brows

The eyebrow, an important asset in facial structure and expression, is at the forefront of troublesome and hard to master beauty routines.

Intimately linked to the specific morphology of each face, the choice of the shape of the bulb, arch and curve are all good reasons to let a specialist take care of that area.

Brows play a main role in the structure and expression of the face. Absent, ill-defined or low-set brows may cause facial features to appear tired and sagging with a prematurely aged look.

Gone are the awkward pencil strokes and time wasted in front of the mirror. Your brows, always perfect, will become the ultimate accessory to a fabulous, younger and rested look, with an instant lifting effect.

MODERN TECHNIQUES

Dermographists trained in permanent make-up are both artists and technicians. They can increase density, reshape and improve what too much tweezing, an unsightly scar or lack of generosity from Mother Nature has left wanting.

Far from the green-brown artificial lines that cast a bad reputation on this category of tattoo art, new techniques allow very natural results.

Today, ultra realism is in high demand. The hair stroke technique simulates the appearance of real brow hair. It is the skeleton upon which the brow is ''constructed'', like the frame of a house. Well designed hair strokes will give the fluidity necessary for an ultra realistic result.

For an very delicate brow, hair strokes can be used alone. However, it is often recommended to add a bit of shading. The shading or ''ombré'' technique adds a powdered effect, allowing to enhance specific areas of the brow. Thus a technique called ''combination technique'', which is the pairing of hair strokes with shading, will result in a brow with more depth, increasing the effect of a real, fuller brow.

Combined with colors that stay stable, cosmetically tattooed brows are spectacular yet natural and subtle. They are the beauty secret of the stars and all those that have become its adepts.

''HAIR STROKE'' TECHNIQUE

Not to be confused with microblading, which is the name of a hand tool, the term ‘hair stroke’ designates a technique used to create natural, subtle and delicate brows by implanting pigment in the shape of brow hair.

It is the skeleton of the permanent brow.

This technique may be used with a microblading tool; however, results will be even more spectacular and durable if done with an electric device equipment with an ultra thin needle.

The use of such devices may also contribute in reducing skin trauma and increasing comfort levels during the procedure.

In order to get a really beautiful result, the shape of each drawn hair must be fluid. If natural hair is still present, their growth pattern will be followed, if not, then the artist must improvise.

The finer the needle the more delicate the hair. However it must be noted that this will also mean a shorter retention time due to a minimal quantity of pigment being implanted into the skin.

'COMBINATION'' TECHNIQUE

To add depth and realism, shading is added to the individual hair strokes with a technique that implants diluted pigment over the entire brow or only in key areas such as the arch and the base. The shading technique results is a very diaphanous powdery effect.

This technique is suggested if remaining natural hair is bunched in one spot. The shading will create equilibrium, adding fullness to the areas where natural hair is missing. It can also add fullness to a brow that has no natural hair left at all, or one where thar remaining hair is very thin and sparse.

In any case, was is most important is to give your new brows a shape that will preserve your personality while enhancing the harmony of your facial features; using colours that will complement your complexion. In order to become well acquainted with your needs, a consultation will always take place before proceeding. This way you’ll be sure to love your new brows!

The majority of permanent make-up pictures are taken immediately after the procedure , showing results that may sometimes appear very intense. However, one month following the procedure, the healed result proves that cosmetic tattoos can be very delicate and natural looking.

Immediately after the procedure

Healed | 10 weeks after procedure

Before your appointment

For brows, it is best to arrive for your appointement with your brows penciled in if that is what you are used to doing.

Treatment time

Cosmetic dermopigmentation is done in two treatment sessions: the initial procedure and the touch-up visit which will occur 4 to 12 weeks later.

The first visit takes about 3 hours and is done in 2 stages:

  • The consultation

  • The execution of the tattoo

The procedure

After penciling in the shape of your brows and discussing the best pigment color, the technician will proceed with the application of a topical anesthetic cream which will be left on for 15 minutes prior to beginning the tattooing procedure.

After the procedure

Your brows will look great immediately after the procedure. In general, the there will be no sensitivity, swelling or redness.

Home care   (Click here for complete aftercare information.)

  • No make-up on treatment area for 7 days following the procedure.

  • You will need to wash your brows daily, morning and evening, with water and a gentle cleanser.

  • Keep brows well hydrated at all times. An ointment will be given to you.

  • Regular daily activities can be resumed immediately. You will be able to take your shower.

  • No sun exposure of the treatment area during the 7 day healing period.

  • No contact with lake, ocean or pool water during 7 day healing period.

The touch-up

Final result and maintenance

A little darker at first, the final result appears after 28 days (about 30% less intensity). Superficial healing occurs after 7 to 10 days. Following the touch-up, your brows will most probably need a refresher about 1 to 2 years for hair stoke and 2 to 3 years for the combination technique. Pigment retention depends mostly on the technique used, sun exposure, skin metabolism and pigment color.

Micropigmentation | Permanent Makeup for the Lips

Nothing lights up your face like beautiful well defined plump lips.

Unfortunately, lipstick has a really limited life span! If you don’t end up eating it, it will end up in the fine lines above them and make you look older than you should.

If your lips are too thin, too pale or uneven, permanent make-up is the only true solution!

Time and cutaneous aggression will fade you lips away leaving them uneven and thinner than they used to be. Contrary to fillers, dermopigmentation can restore that precise outline and add volume.

Light pastel colours that imitate natural lips, such as pale pinks, will be chosen to add definition to the lip contour without giving them that made-up look. More intensity can always be added later, during the touch-up session.

To render more volume, a slight thickness can be added in the overall shape, especially in the middle of the lower lip and in the upper arches. However, it is important to maintain a natural aspect so that your permanent make-up is not noticeable to others and remains your beauty secret.

Outline and shaded fill

New dermopigmentation techniques have taught us to create a contour line that will be delicately shaded towards the inside. The pigment will blend with the natural vermillion of the lip for a most natural result.

For those that desire a more sustained color, a large array of different colours in available, to create that custom pigment shade just for you.

Whether you choose the shaded contour or the full fill, the outcome wild always be natural.

Once healed, the pigment implanted in the mucous membrane of the lips will appear translucent and diaphanous.

What you should know before your appointment

For permanent make-up procedures on the lips it is important to be aware of the following points:

  • If you want a shade that is similar to the one you usually wear, bring your lipstick with you.

  • Color choice will be discussed with you. Please note that for lips that have a naturally darker shade, some pigment color, such as light pink or beige pink,  cannot be used.

  • Dark lips cannot be lightened with dermpigmentation.

  • Dark brown lips should not be treated by dermopigmentation due to the high risk of hyperpigmentation.

  • If you have ever had a Herpes Simplex (cold sore) outbreak, even if it was just once, it is of utmost importance that you take your oral dose of Valtrex or Valocyclovir, the morning of your treatment and a second dose 12 hours later, or as indicated on your prescription. Valtrex is a medication that requires a prescription from your physician or dentist. Please consult the Read more page fro added information.

  • If you feel a Herpes Simplex outbreak the morning of your appointment, it will have to be rescheduled for a later date.

  • Make sure that you keep your lips well hydrated before the treatment. Dry and chapped lips are more difficult to work on and pigment retention may be compromised.

Treatment time

Cosmetic dermopigmentation requires two treatment sessions: the initial procedure and the touch-up visit which will occur 6 to 12 weeks later.

The first visit lasts about three hours and is done in two stages:

  • The consultation

  • The execution of the tattoo

The procedure

  • After penciling in the shape of your lips, taking into account your preferences and your morphology, the technician will proceed with the application of a topical anesthetic cream which will be left on for 20 minutes prior to beginning the tattooing procedure. This will ensure that the treatment is comfortable right from the start.

  • Color choice will be discussed with you prior to the procedure.

After the procedure

  • Right after the procedure, your lips will be somewhat swollen, however you will be able to eat and drink as usual.

  • Do not schedule the procedure less than one week prior to a special event since your eyes may stay swollen for up to 3 days.

Home care    (Click here for complete aftercare information.)

  • Your lips will appear very intense in color and swollen immediately following the procedure.

  • Once the swelling has resorbed, your lips will recover their proper shape and the color will fade by about 50% after the first week.

  • Your lips may remain sensitive during the first few days.

  • As soon as possible after the treatment, apply a cold dry compress on the lips. Keep compress on for 10 minutes and repeat every hour as often as your schedule permits and as long as you feel the need. The application of a cold compress will help reduce the swelling and the discomfort.

  • No make-up on treatment area for 7 days following the procedure.

  • You will need to wash your lips daily, morning and evening, as as after each meal, with water and a gentle cleanser.

  • Keep your lips well hydrated at all times. An ointment will be given to you. You will also need to purchase a lip balm at the drug store (BURT'S BEES - any flavor except mint).

  • Regular daily activities can be resumed immediately. You will be able to take your shower.

  • No sun exposure of the treatment area during the 7 day healing period. Wear sun glasses when outside.

  • No contact with lake, ocean or pool water during 7 day healing period.

  • Instructions for home care will be explained and given to you in writing.

The touch-up

The touch-up is done 6 to 12 weeks following the initial treatment. It is an important part of the procedure and ensures that the final outcome is of optimal quality. It allows for adjustments to the shape and the color. The touch-up visit lasts about 1h30.

Final result and maintenance

The final result will appear after 3 weeks. The healing process can be divided into three stages:

  • Week 1:

Your lips will be very chapped, more or less swollen during the first few days and the color will be very intense until the dries skin falls of, revealing a much lighter shade.

  • Week 2:

Your lips will be dehydrated and have a faded floury look. The color will appear very light, sometime almost imperceptible.

  • Week 3:

Your lips will be rehydrated, the color will return and will continue stabilising through the fourth week. Make sure you always keep your lips well hydrated with a lip balm to keep the color vibrant.

The final color will be translucent and natural; if the color is too light it can be adjusted at the touch-up appointment.

Once the touch-up completed, your lips will probably need a refresher treatment 1 to 2 years down the road, depending on your metabolism, sun exposure and the initial pigment color.

Micropigmentation | Permanent Makeup for Eyes

Glamorous or discreet, an eyeliner will always bring out the beauty of your eyes.

Unfortunately it’s not always easy to draw properly and it often ends up elsewhere on your face. A must have for watery eyes, the permanent eyeliner will keep you safe from losing your patience in front of the mirror and ending up with messy eyelids. You’ll look good 24/7, even at the beach!

MicroLiner: lash enhancement

Eyelash enhancement, also called MicroLiner, is an ultra-fine eyeliner done solely along the natural lash line and not on the actual eyelid. A very natural effect that creates the illusion of fuller lashes.

The addition of a lower liner, a procedure called the ''MicroLiner Plus'', will add a little more intensity.

The MicroLiner is recommended for those clients that are not in the habit of wearing much make-up but want to put a little more emphasis on their eyes, without looking made-up.

The full eyeliner is drawn on both upper and lower lids. Although black pigment is very often used, it can also executed in softer colors with black used only at the upper lash line.

Beautiful and stylish, this eyeliner creates more intensity and contributes to making the eyes appear larger.

The full eyeliner is not suitable for all eye shapes.
